What Others Are Saying About This Book

From extreme pressure coal yields a beautiful diamond. In like manner Jessica has yielded the true beauty of her precious heart in the face of adversity and laid it before a world starved of Abba Fathers grace. No matter what has come against her she has stayed strong in the Lord and had her roots deeply embedded in the perfect Love of God. This book reveals the precious heart of God in the day to day grind of life here on earth. Where the rubber hits the road she reveals the secrets of overcoming through the grace of Emanuel. I without reservation commend this beautifully illustrated book of truth and earnestly pray that your faith will be enriched through the prayerful reading of this inspired book.

Reverend, Doctor JP. Scharnik, Australia

Whenever I read the following in the Bible, I think of Jessica: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also manifest in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may manifest in our bodies. (2 Corinthians 4:7-12 ESV). It is easy to say you are a Christian if you can testify about your earthly prosperity and health and enjoy a downhill trip, but those testimonies do not touch me. When you constantly live with pain in your body and still honor God, it must be a true testimony of God’s life in a person, and Jessica, this is truer of you than any other person we know. You are such an inspiration to us! You did not learn the life you share in this book from academic studies, but through a walk in fellowship with the Christ that is in you!

This most delightful offering, prepared by Jessica Turner, is a precious treasure masquerading as a ‘little book’! She has written the story of her inspiring journey through pain, both emotional and physical, into the presence of the marvellous light of her loving Father. In its pages she has bared her soul with a childlike vulnerability, entrusting her very deepest emotions and experiences to the reader.  It is a compilation of thoughts and scriptures, prayers, conversations with God, and delightfully primitive pictures to illustrate the pages.  Colossians 3:16 comes to mind, ‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.’ And this is what she has done. Thank you Jessica for sharing these gems with us.

How can something so lyrical and sweet be so profound? And yet you will find all this and more in this lovely work by Jessica Turner. What an inspiration and tender, yet powerful, reflection on this woman’s life – her struggles, her pain, her faith and her abiding love for the Lord and for life. You will find in its pages encouragement, inspiration, joy, and the peace that only the Lord Jesus can give as illustrated so beautifully in this gem of a book.

I believe that you will find this book to be very unique, especially in the sense that the things that Jessica shares here could only have been experienced and learned by spending a lot of personal, intimate time with God.  I think of Jessica and her husband Malcolm as the artistic couple, always full of teachings about God’s grace.  In these pages it becomes very apparent to each reader that there has to be a special purpose for each of our lives.

Anneri Roelofse Nielsen, Cape Town, South Africa

Being a “Christian” in today’s world is a routine of saying the right words, doing the right things, and being with the right people on a regular basis. But being “spiritual” and hearing the voice of God is an unusual, out-of-the-box phenomenon. Growing in Christ means listening, not merely obeying, and having a direct line of communication with the Spirit. Obedience is fine, but do we want our children, as adults, to always obey us or do we want them to love us as we love them?

God has always desired relationship with His creation. This book is about learning that relationship from the inside out. It’s not just about doing the right things, but about the internal sense of a living Being on the inside of us, who lives our frustrations, joys, and everyday life with us, not just around us. The essence of living loved and being human is knowing intrinsically that HE lives in us, perfecting us, drawing us into a love that is so amazing we have nothing else to compare it to. Jessica takes these understandings and puts her heart out there for others to watch her journey into this love. She captures the essence of Father God who never gives up on her, so she has the strength and fortitude to never give up on Him or herself.

When I first heard about Dystonia, this incurable neurological disorder that Jessica lives with, I thought, “How can anyone live in constant pain, which causes her head to move all the time”! And oh, how my heart went out to her when I first met her. I now know it was in God’s planning for us to meet. Why her healing doesn’t instantly manifest, we do not know. But I have seen the healing Jesus has done already. I now also know her secret! Despite the physical and inner pain she suffers, her eyes were on her Father in heaven. Though her head moves, her feet are fixed firmly on the Rock, Jesus Christ! When you read this book you will see the wisdom, the knowledge and insight in God’s Word and His ways. It is a privilege to discover an intimate relationship with God, our Father, through the eyes of Jessica. She takes your hand to join in on her private time with Jesus. You never feel like an outsider, but feel part of His love and care. I know that this book comes from her heart through much prayer, and that you will be blessed reading it. I commend this book with the prayer in my heart that God, our Father will show you the riches, and the absolute wonder of an intimate relationship with Him!

Contentment - we all want and strive for it.  No need to, because it is already ours. Be still and rest in the finished work of Jesus, I believe, is the main message of this rich compilation of journal entries. As Jessica so beautifully puts it, it is "the timelessness of just being in You Lord". A book filled to the brim with wonderful life changing truths.  Its candour and openness are heart warming.  A personal journey, that everyone can in some way relate to, that shows us in practice that the reality of a deep, close knit relationship with God is ours now, in Jesus.

Vanessa da Fonseca, Johannesburg

This delightfully illustrated book with its drawings and paintings done by children, which adds sunshine, colour and interest, reveals the amazing relationship Jessica has with Jesus. Her gentle way of ministering to people reveals the true nature of Jesus, full of love, care, mercy and grace. Whilst reading her book, you will find that it reveals a relationship that she has with the Father, so close as being under the shadow of His wings, the closest place to His body, envelops you in the softest down feathers; the safest place to be, feeling and being in rhythm with His heartbeat. It entices the reader to want the same relationship.

Bronwyn van Heerden, Johannesburg, South Africa

Sometimes it takes a while to recognize that someone has a special ability to get us to believe in ourselves, and to tie that belief to our highest ideals, and to imagine that in Jesus, we can do great things together. In those rare moments, when such a person comes along, we need to put aside our own plans and reach for what we know is possible in order to fulfill that which is our true destiny in God. When someone loves you, the way they talk about you is different, and you feel safe and comfortable. You come to realize that the things you do only for yourself are gone, after you are gone, but the things you do for others become a legacy in Jesus that you leave for the next generation. These are the things that Jessica, my Mom in the Lord helped me to see, and it comes through in this book, that we are here for a special reason and purpose.
